[Hon30] – My new module is finished

Posted by Gerd on Tuesday, 5 January 2016 with 1 Comment

Hello logging railroaders,

I’m proud to present my latest module creation finished. It’s the last (by now) module of my Hon30 logging layout. Enjoy the pics 🙂

Now I’ll focus more on my rolling stock in H0n30. Some new locos have to get weathered and detailed and there are some more models on my wish list including scratch-built cars and new locos.

Cheers, Gerd

[Hon30] – Trees, Bridges, Fences…

Posted by Gerd on Sunday, 3 January 2016 with No Comments

Hello,

the new year starts with some model railroad progress.

I mounted the backdrop to the new Hon30-module and set the trees. I finished the very simple wooden bridge with some beams and added planks for the foot path in front of it.

The right portion will show a meadow with barn and cows, so I needed some fences here. I made my own one from twigs, glued into pre-drilled holes and yarn from my wifes sewing kit. The most important thing is, to put the yarn back into your wifes sewing kit once finished 🙂

The barn, made by Faller, got heavily weathered before assembling and is glued in place. Next I’ll start with the grass and weeds to finish this module.

Cheers, Gerd

Hello, today, I’ve an update on my Hon30 layout. As I decided to make a creek on the new segment, I had to found a way to model the water. After research on the internet, I decided to use products from NOCH, which are the same as Woodland Realistic Water and Water Effects. First I […]

Hello, in my last posting, I announced, that the setup work for the big live steam event will start this week, but I was wrong in date by one week. So I had some more time to do some progress on the new module of my Hon30 layout. I sculptured the landscape with plaster and […]

[Hon30] Progress on the new module

Posted by Gerd on Saturday, 5 December 2015 with 1 Comment

Hello, I did some progress on the new module during the past days. I added another scenic element to the module. The railroad will cross a small creek on the left part of the module. Therefore I made a cut-out to the deck of the Casani box. I glued a piece of foam below the […]

[Hon30] The new module get started

I spend the first evening working on the new module of my Hon30 layout. I made the module from two 20x30cm Casani boxes and glued/screwed them together for a 60cm long module. Next I installed the plugs and sockets, layed the tracks at the module joints and did some tests with the existing modules. I […]

The 3rd storage box

Posted by Gerd on Sunday, 1 February 2015 with No Comments

Once the fiddle yards were done. I started with another storage box. By opening the top lid, the two fiddle yards will slide into matching pockets for storage. The pocket in the middle will hold the small yard extension and the additional backdrops for the fiddle yard entries and more. Another lid on the front […]

Redesign of the Fiddle Yards

Posted by Gerd on Saturday, 31 January 2015 with 1 Comment

Hello, after the first operation sessions I realized, that my fiddle yards were not the best. I had trouble with the curved turnouts on the large fiddle and the solution of the small one was odd too. As I was working on the whole layout while adding the backdrops, I just decided to rebuilt the […]

Backdrops for the Hon30 layout

Posted by Gerd on Wednesday, 28 January 2015 with 2 Comments

Meanwhile I managed the long time open issue “backdrops”. I bought some simple sky backdrops offset printed on paper. They are 80 by 20cm each and originally designed for N-scale modules. I glued them to MDF boards and screwed them to the back of the modules. With the new backdrops, the modules are fitting just […]

Construction of my storage boxes for my Hon30 layout

Hello again, during the last days, I build the storage boxes for my Hon30 layout. I did some more improvements to my last design since I realized, that I can handle the whole thing without exchange back drops. I just have to mount the backdrop another way on two special modules. I got all wood […]
