I made two videos two answer frequently asked questions about my Hon30 layout. I hope they will help you to understand the details. If you’ve further questions, feel free to contact me as usual.
I get a lot of mails regarding the boxes and plugs I use for my Hon30 modular layout. So here’re a couple of sources or details that may help you to find similar stuff for your railroad project.
I buy my boxes at www.boesner.com and they were original designed as wooden canvas for paint art. The product is called “CASANI” and available in many different sizes. Since Boesner is a German company, they may be available in Europe only. Anyway, I got two sources for similar stuff in the US, listed below. If some one can tell me a similar product range in GB – feel free to tell me and I’ll add them here as well.

Plugs & Sockets
I use 4mm Banana plugs for panel installation. They are available in several types from Conrad.de and may be available to your country as well. Otherwise, please see the product descriptions below. You may find similar products at your local store. I recommend sockets, which have an all-though hole to take the plugs. Please note, the blow links will lead to the German website of Conrad.de.
As usual, feel free to contact me in case of further questions.
Hello folks, during the indoor steam engine meet in Karlsruhe, some tool dealers also show up to supply the steam model builders with stuff. One of them also offers empty wooden boxes in various sizes. I got 6 with 13x20x4cm (inside) each for just 10,-€. I’ll go to use them to store my Hon30 rolling […]
Hello again, after finishing the preparations for the live steam show in January with my 2“-scale railroad, I decided to spend some attention to my Hon30 logging railroad during the winter time. There’s still a new module on my to-do list and some other ideas. First off all, I’ll start with a fundamental decision. I […]
In most cases, it’s the best to sleep one night over a good idea. The next morning, in most cases, you’re wondering about the crazy ideas you had the day before and you came up with a “real brilliant” idea instead. This is what happened with my storage boxes… I redesigned the whole thing after […]
Hi folks, I plan to build two storage boxes for my Hon30 modules. To get both boxes the same size and to store the modules equal, I’ve some room left for another 2′ module. The most flexibility would give a module than can be added on each D-type joint. Therefore I spend some thoughts about […]
Hello, I made a short video to show you the 11 different layouts that I can set up from my Hon30 logging railroad modules. Enjoy 🙂
Hello guys, I uploaded a little video that shows the flexible and easy assembling of my modular Hon30 logging railroad layout. It’s fully “plug&play” and can be set up in a few minutes and if you like, you can just change the setup during your operation session. I started with a simple shelf layout design, […]
The following pictures will show the different variants in which the corner modules can be set up. You can use them straight for a shelf layout, in two different corner versions or at a 180° curve. Once this complex part was done, I finished the rest of the track work by easy-going. Now I’m able […]
The last week, I start track laying on the my Hon30 layout. The next two posts will show you the progress in a short review. First I added the missing plugs ans sockets to the module boxes. These plugs are used to align and set up the layout. They will also provide the track power […]
